For some reason, I am becoming more than obsessed with this trend. It is just so fun and depending on what colors you used, it could be transitioned into any season!

DIY:How to do an upholstered headboard

Hope everyone had a great weekend :) Mine was filled with packing and DIY projects!

I move in on August 10th and I know packing already sounds crazy, but doing it in spurts is better than two days before trying to pack EVERYTHING and wearing myself out.

One simple little craft I did was paint the trim of a cork board I have

Also I FINALLY upholstered my headboard!!

It is so easy and simple to do, here is how I did it:

Step 1:
I bought this ready to upholster headboard from target

This made the process really easy. It was on sale when I bought it (and on sale again now) so it was like maybe $130.00.

It comes with a frame so you don't have to attach it to the wall. This was key for me because I am in an apartment and I don't want to put massive nail holes in the wall so when I move out I have patch them. But if you were doing it in a bedroom at your home and you don't mine the holes in the wall, I am sure you can attach it that way as well.

Step 2:
Iron the fabric. You don't want any creases or wrinkles when applying the fabric

Step 3:
Because I wanted the back to look finished and not have excess fabric, I took the backing off so I could put the fabric under and re-back it at the end.

So we had to take the nails out but be careful not to rip and pull fabric because we have to re-apply it!

Step 4:

Use a nail gun to staple the fabric in place. Make sure the fabric is pulled tightly!! The edges are the toughest part, but the easiest way to explain how to fold them to wrap them like the ends of a present

Step 5:
Once all the edges are stapled it is time to reapply the backing to finish the back so it doesn't look half done or tacky (even though it will be flush against the wall and no one can actually see it)

Simply just nail gun the backing just like the fabric. When it's done it should look like the picture above, which is a more polished look than just leaving the fabric showing with it nailed down.

And ta-da! It's done!!

It's not the best image because of the lighting, but once I move in you'll see it in my room with bedding so you'll get a better idea of what it looks like with a bed!

If anyone has any questions just let me know! But because I bought this slipcover ready headboard, if I do decide at any point to change my bedding and the fabric on the headboard doesn't match, I can simply remove the fabric by pulling the staples out. So it would be like a new headboard all over again!

TGIF

I finally had the ability to go to work today and it felt so nice to get off my couch and outside..even though it felt like 120 degrees today!

I was really hoping that I would be feeling up to par by today because tonight a group of us planned to go to a Corey Smith concert in Savannah! I am so excited to get out after being what felt like confinement all week :)

But I have been to probably 3 Corey Smith concerts and I absolutely love his music. He is from the South and sings country/blues. Because Corey Smith went to UGA, he sings a lot about USC, Clemson, Charleston & that makes his music so great because all of us have been to those places and can relate! So it's just a really fun, laid back concert!

On another note, for those who have followed me before I took about a month break, I said I was going to do a DIY fabric headboard...well I am making myself do it this weekend because it is 2 weeks till I move in and I have not even started it. So look forward to my DIY post on Sunday or Monday!! I really hope it turns out because if not...I will be headboard-less :(

Does anyone else have any exciting plans?!?

Bubble Necklace

I feel behind the ball game because I have yet to purchase a bubble necklace! EVERYTIME I go to J. Crew they are sold out but tell me that I can go online...but I have yet to do so. So I will be more than likely resorting to a knock off since I can't get my hands on the real one.

Madewell Obsession

Being sick does more harm to my bank account than it actually does to my body.

I have done nothing but sit on my couch with my hot tea and shop online.

With that being said, I think I have found a new favorite store!

Enter:

I have heard nothing but good things about them! Here are a few pieces I have my eye on

Scallops and lace, enough said.
Plus this is a great piece that can be worn with a skirt or shorts in the summertime but can be layered with a blazer in the fall! Now is the time of the year to buy transition pieces.

I am not much on the snake print but for some reason I love these! Plus the deep emerald is perfect for fall

I bought my Michael Kors riding boots last winter and basically never took them off. I wore them with absolutely EVERYTHING. But I am DYING for these. I am not one to buy boots online without trying them on, but I would take a chance with these since the closest store for me is in Atlanta which is over 5 hours away.

The best part about this ring is it's only $15.00!!

I am having such trouble trying to figure out what I am going to use to carry my books in this year ( I will probably do a post on this soon). As soon as I saw this beauty, I knew this was it..until I saw the price tag of $248. So I will continue to look into my monogrammed backpacks but those just seem to childish while this clearly is more classy and timeless. So I shall wait, for now but I do have my eye on this beaut.

This backpack comes in at $55 which is more in my price range. However I am not sure about the colors, mint & orange . It comes in other colors but they are sold out. Hm what do y'all think?

Fall Color Trends

Happy Tuesday!

Since yesterday I have had this awful sickness that I can't really describe. My entire body just feels bad and I have the worst headaches. I slept for almost 10 hours last night thinking rest was my cure, but nope. I feel just the same today.
I am actually able to do a post because I got sent home early from work today (after I went in late) because everyone said I looked horrible and needed to go home and rest.

So here I am, resting/blogging

I can't believe that July is almost over! August is right around the corner which means Fall is to follow! This is the time now I begin wanting to pull out my scarfs, skinny jeans, and light sweaters (even though it's still 100 degrees outside).

I found this color palette that is suppose to be the "in" colors for this fall!  I can't get over the Tangerine and the Ultramarine Green! Definitely going to be my new favorite colors this season

What to wear during rush

Hello everyone! I am still here :)

I have no idea where time has went but the day that I am leaving for school keeps getting closer and closer. I honestly can't believe that summer is almost over and I will be starting my junior year of college in less than a month

Also I don't think I have mentioned before but I have decided to go through rush this year!! I am super excited but nervous at the same time. I can't stop trying to get tips from friends who went through rush and are in sororities as well as read articles online because I want to be fully prepared.

My biggest worry is what I am going to wear! I know it needs to be comfy and nothing that is too binding because it's going to be SO hot!

Sorority Rush

So how can one go wrong with a Lilly dress?!?

So now that I have one day planned, I got 6 left to go! But I plan on doing a major shopping overhaul before going to Clemson to get new clothes for rush!

Oil blotting sheets, gum, lip stick, and my iPhone are going to be my necessities in my purse.
I will probably throw in a pen and post-it's for any notes I need to remember because I know how fast past everything is!

For those who have went through rush, any other tips I shall know?!
